The American Legion spans throughout Chenango County, in south-central New York State. There are eleven Posts, and three of them have the distinction of being Centennial Posts! With that many Legionnaires, it's challenging to keep everyone informed on the issues that affect them. This website provides valuable information to strengthen communication between Posts and members.
In Chenango County, there are six American Legion Auxiliary units, five Sons of the American Legion (SAL) Squadrons, and the American Legion Riders. All of these groups, plus the Legionnaires, make up The American Legion Family of Chenango County who work together, dedicated to service to veterans, active-duty military and their families, and the community. With camaraderie, we promote patriotism and national security. This website is a platform to connect members regarding news, concerns, agenda, and to learn about upcoming post activities.
All General American Legion events within Chenango County are being postponed indefinitely due to ongoing health concerns regarding the COVID-19 pandemic and public gatherings. At this time, this involves all events for the foreseeable future, including face to face meetings. Please bear with us during this difficult time, and please stay safe.
American Legion Family of Chenango County - it's Time To Renew!
If you haven't paid your 2021 membership dues for the Legion, ALA, or SAL, please do so now. Most posts are open to drop off your annual renewal dues or you can pay your dues by mail. For the mailing address of your post, click on "County Posts" where addresses are listed.
Veterans are encouraged to see what's going on at their area posts or to reach out to a post for questions or to inquire about membership. Membership has its perks: The Legion has negotiated for its member's health insurance, pharmaceutical discounts, travel discounts, and other benefits. You can also renew lapsed American Legion memberships, or join your local Post for the first time. You and your family can join our family!
The American Legion is the world's largest service organization, chartered and incorporated by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans organization devoted to mutual helpfulness.
